(24 March 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has made a critical advance in its counter-terrorism operations by arresting 16 suspects linked to the attack on the SYL Hotel in Mogadishu on 14 March. This move marks a step in dismantling the network responsible for the alarming incident.

Among those arrested is Abdinasir Dahir Noor, reportedly crucial in facilitating the entry of the vehicles used in the attack into Mogadishu. The Ministry of Information of the Federal Government of Somalia, in a statement, pinpointed Noor’s role in this complex operation and emphasised the gravity of the threat posed.

In further actions, authorities have detained around four individuals believed to be the registered owners of the vehicles used in this crime, intensifying the scrutiny of the event’s orchestration. This development suggests a deeper web of involvement and raises critical questions about security protocols.

Additionally, the government has initiated inquiries into five members of the security forces stationed at checkpoints believed to have been compromised by the terrorists. These probes aim to ascertain any lapses or complicity in facilitating the attack.

The Somali government has committed to maintaining transparency throughout the investigative process, promising to share findings that reveal the full scope of the threat and the network’s operations.

As the inquiry progresses, NISA is set to continue its detailed examination of the suspects’ roles in the tragedy. This case underscores the importance of robust intelligence and security measures in confronting the persistent threat of terrorism.
