(10-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The federal Parliament started a debate on Monday on Chapter 4 of the provisional constitution on government structure and national elections. The joint Lower and Upper Houses of Parliament have already reviewed amendments to Chapters 1, 2, and 3, and anticipate reviewing more Chapters of the Provisional Constitution following the conclusion of these discussions.
Simultaneously, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia has been engaged in nationwide consultations on the Provisional Constitution to gather the opinions of the Somali people, which are deemed essential for the constitution-making process.
The Federal Government has recently increased its efforts to review the provisional constitution to conclude the review process which has protracted over a decade.
