(04-03-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — The UN Envoy for Somalia, Catriona Laing, has extended her congratulations to Somalia for Monday’s historic event, where Somalia became an official full member of the East African Community after depositing its Instrument of Ratification with the Secretary-General of the East African Community at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
In a tweet, Ms Laing hailed the development as another step forward for Somalia as it continues to assume its rightful place as a member of the international community.
During the ceremony, Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, presented the country’s ratification instrument to the EAC Secretary-General, Peter Mathuki.
