(17 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Somali Armed Forces, chaired the first Banadir Regional Security Conference on Wednesday, aiming to bolster security measures in the capital.
The meeting brought together top government officials including the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Defence and Internal Security, military commanders, the Governor of Banadir, and district commissioners from Banadir region.
Discussions focused on accelerating current security strategies to stabilise Mogadishu, which has seen varying levels of security in recent months. Security agency representatives provided updates on the capital’s situation and outlined their plans to ensure the safety of Somali citizens’ lives, property, and dignity.
Officials at the meeting vowed to redouble their efforts to maintain the current stability in the city. The recent months have shown a significant decrease in terrorist activities in Mogadishu, largely credited to the government’s robust security measures.
