(29 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud took centre stage at the opening session of the IDA21 for African Heads of State Summit in Nairobi, where he emphasised the critical role of the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) in Somalia’s national development efforts.
In his address, President Mohamud underscored the IDA as a vital lifeline for Somalia, one that the government relies heavily upon to propel its ambitious national transformation agenda. He detailed how IDA funding is essential in promoting inclusive growth across the country, especially following Somalia’s post-debt relief period.
The summit, which brings together various African leaders, aims to discuss strategies for leveraging international development aid to tackle the unique challenges faced by the continent.
