(10 April 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud hosted a motivational gathering with female officers in the armed forces on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday evening.
During the meeting, President Mohamud praised the sacrifices of the female officers in defending the nation. He highlighted their role in maintaining the independence and dignity of Somalia, referring to them as the “backbone of the Somali government.”
The President urged the officers to amplify their efforts in the nation’s liberation struggle and to enhance the morale of the national forces. He specifically called for increased public awareness and unity in combatting the Al-Shabaab threat.
Somalia, grappling with the challenges of terrorism, and economic hardships, has seen many women within its ranks willing to sacrifice their lives for the country’s sovereignty.
