The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia has issued a warning as the Shabelle River near Beledweyne approaches dangerous flooding levels. Recent reports indicate significant increases in water levels, prompting the ministry to advise residents to avoid riverbanks and stream areas to mitigate risks.
Heavy rainfall has contributed to the rising water levels, with Beledweyne, Jalalaqsi, and Jowhar recording the highest at 144mm. Other regions like Galmudug, South West, Jubaland and Puntland have also experienced substantial rainfall. The ministry said it will monitor the situation closely and provide updates through its Weather Forecasting Department.
