Puntland Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Democratisation has cancelled the agreement between Kaah and Mustaqbal parties regarding the districts of Bursalah and Humbeys in Mudug and Karkar regions. The annulment follows the parties’ failure to agree on jointly forming the district administrations. Consequently, the ministry announced that the positions of commissioner and deputy commissioner for these districts would be filled through free and fair elections by council members.

The ministry has directed the governors of the Mudug and Karkaar regions to prepare for these elections and will soon announce the election dates. Last year’s elections on 25 May left many districts without established administrations due to ongoing disputes, and this latest development is intended to resolve some of the governance issues.
