(24-07-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The spokesperson for Somalia’s Ministry of Defence, First Lieutenant Sheikh Abukar Mohamud, reported that casualties inflicted on Al-Shabaab during recent operations in Lower Juba have risen to over 200. This includes both injuries and deaths. Mr Mohamud noted that the operations in the Bula Haji, Baar Sanguuni, and Harbole areas in Lower Juba are considered among the most successful carried out by the joint Somali National Army (SNA) and local forces, delivering a significant blow to the militant attackers.
“The total number of injuries and deaths inflicted on Al-Shabaab has exceeded 200 militants, resulting in severe casualties for the group and demonstrating the national army’s readiness to defend the nation,” said Spokesperson Mohamud.
He further explained that the ongoing military operation in Lower Juba aims to open the main supply route connecting Kismayo to Afmadow, which is crucial for the region’s movement and economy.
The operations conducted on 22 July in the Jubaland region have been praised by both the federal government and Jubaland leadership, who have urged the army to intensify their efforts in weakening the enemy.
