(04-07-24) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali National Army (SNA) launched a targeted operation on Thursday against suspected Al-Shabaab hideouts in areas surrounding Buloburde town, Hiiran region.
Led by Commander Mahdi, the troops focused on Beer Yabal, Ari Leys, Lafoole, and Cag Bashir – all known Al-Shabaab gathering points in the vicinity of Buloburde. This operation is part of a wider campaign across Hirshabeelle to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s presence and weaken their operational capabilities.
Recent weeks have seen a surge in SNA activities in the region, resulting in significant casualties among Al-Shabaab militants. The army remains committed to its ongoing offensive against the extremist group, aiming to liberate communities and restore security to the region.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who recently visited the frontlines in Hirshabeelle State, pledged to continue the second phase of the offensive against Al-Shabaab. The offensive had stalled in recent months, but the president promised to liberate the remaining areas under Al-Shabaab control in Hirshabeelle and Galmudug states, building on the momentum gained in last year’s operations.
