(27 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Several fleeing members of the Al-Shabaab militant group have surrendered to Somali National Army (SNA) forces stationed in El-Dheer district, Galgaduud region.
Among those who surrendered were two senior militants, who turned themselves into the SNA and local forces in El-Dheer. The men, armed with AK-47 rifles, had been hiding in the thick forest between El-Dheer and Awsweyne.
After making contact with the Somali National Army, the militants were taken into custody. They are currently undergoing interrogation by national security forces before being handed over to the relevant government agencies for further action.
