(04 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – A fierce battle erupted overnight in Ceelasha Biyaha, on the outskirts of Mogadishu, between Al-Shabaab militants and Somali government forces. The clash followed an Al-Shabaab ambush on a government base in the Lower Shabelle region.
Details regarding casualties remain unclear, as the fighting occurred under the cover of darkness. Both sides are believed to have suffered losses. Security officials have not yet released an official statement on the attack.
This morning, the situation in Ceelasha Biyaha is reportedly calm, with security forces conducting operations to secure the area and search for any remaining Al-Shabaab fighters.
This latest attack comes just hours after a deadly Al-Shabaab assault on Lido Beach in Mogadishu, where over 100 people were killed and more than 190 injured. This surge in violence underscores the ongoing threat posed by the extremist group and the significant security challenges facing the Somali government.
