(26 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has named Major General Abdullahi Gafow Mohamud as his new Advisor on Armed Forces affairs. Major General Gafow, a seasoned veteran in national security, previously led the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and headed the Department of Immigration and Nationality. His long career has also seen him take on other key roles within Somalia’s security apparatus.
His appointment comes as Somalia intensifies efforts to rebuild its military and consolidate progress made in the fight against extremist groups. In his new capacity, Major General Gaafow is expected to play a key role in advancing the federal government’s military and army rebuilding efforts.
President Mohamud extended his best wishes to the new advisor and prayed for his success in the challenging task ahead.
