(20 Aug 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Somali National Army (SNA), specifically the 260th Battalion of the 9th Brigade, 60th Division, stationed in Wajid District of Bakool Region, has conducted several coordinated operations across several villages, including Garas-Dhimbirow, Walag, and Garas-Maamow, located southeast of Wajid.
The counter-terrorism efforts, led by First Lieutenant Onkod Moallim Adan, Commander of the 260th Battalion, dismantled Al-Shabaab hideouts that had been terrorising local pastoralist communities.
The operations are part of broader security measures by SNA forces, supported by South West security units, to address insecurity in far-flung areas of Bakool, by Al-Shabaab militants.
