(23 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Officials from Somalia’s Immigration and Nationality Agency participated in a high-level conference on women’s leadership in border immigration and security held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event, titled Challenges and Opportunities of Women’s Leadership in Border Immigration and Security, was organised by Naif University in collaboration with Interpol.
The conference brought together 96 women working in immigration and security, as well as experts from 13 Arab countries and international representatives. Discussions centred on promoting women’s leadership in the security sector and addressing the cultural and institutional barriers women face in these fields.
Somali officials contributed to key discussions, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in overcoming these obstacles and advancing improvements in immigration and security across the board. The event underscored the need for collaborative efforts to support women in leadership roles in the border and immigration sectors globally.
