(27 Oct 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Commander of the Somali National Army (SNA), General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuddin, met today with a high-ranking Turkish delegation led by Brigadier General Soner Oruçoğlu, Deputy Director General of Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense. The delegation is in Mogadishu to review ongoing military infrastructure projects that are part of Turkey’s continuing support for Somalia.
The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation between the two nations, specifically in areas of training and resources for the Somali Armed Forces. General Muhuddin expressed appreciation for Turkey’s steadfast support, describing the partnership as “essential for Somalia’s security sector.”
Turkey has become a vital ally in Somalia’s reconstruction, especially in bolstering the SNA’s capabilities to counter terrorism and maintain stability. This cooperation has significantly contributed to Somalia’s security goals and the military’s operational growth.
