(06 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Reports from Galgaduud region indicate that government forces, alongside residents, launched a heavy attack today against members of Al-Shabaab in Eeldheer district. The allied forces targeted Al-Shabaab militants in areas such as Marayga Omane and Isgoyska Maallin Abukar in the east of Galgaduud, where the group had been gathering.
A local source confirmed that the operation led to direct clashes between the two sides, lasting several hours, but the outcome remains uncertain. Somali military officials reported that they destroyed an Al-Shabaab battle vehicle and a motorcycle during the fight, and vowed to continue their efforts in the area.
The situation remains tense, with emergency forces deployed to the region to secure the area and drive Al-Shabaab militants out.
In recent days, the offensive against Al-Shabaab has intensified in central Somalia, with significant gains made in areas under the Galmudug administration’s control.
