(04 NOV 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The House of the People Speaker, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), met the Acting UN Special Representative James Swan in Mogadishu on Sunday. They discussed Parliament’s key priorities, including the provisional constitutional amendment process and other critical legislative measures.
Speaker Madobe expressed his appreciation for the UN’s ongoing support and emphasised the significance of empowering Somalis to elect their leaders and shape the nation’s future.
Mr. Swan, in turn, praised Parliament for its legislative contributions to state-building. The meeting follows the launch of operations by the United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), which succeeded the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) after a UN Security Council resolution concluded the previous mission.
