(06 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News)— Commissioner of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi inspected the Somali Police Rapid Response Unit headquarters. He was welcomed by Colonel Dahir Turyare, the newly appointed commander of the unit, who briefed him on the unit’s daily operations dedicated to serving the Somali people. Colonel Turayare also led General Abdullahi on a tour of the various sections and offices within the headquarters.
Brigadier General Abdullahi urged the Rapid Response Unit to intensify their efforts and stressed the importance of performing their duties with diligence, responsibility, and courage. He highlighted the critical role of safeguarding the public who visit government service centres and ensuring the security of officials working within these facilities.
The Somali Police Rapid Response Unit is primarily responsible for maintaining public order, protecting government institutions, and supporting specialized forces focused on counter-terrorism and public safety.
