(24 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News)— Somalia’s first-ever Digital Health Conference has opened in Mogadishu to advance the use of technology in the country’s health system. The event was inaugurated by the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Abdusalam Abdi Ali, and will run for two days.
Key officials, including Acting Health Minister Dr. Maryama Mohamed Hussein and Technology Minister Mohamed Aden Moalim, attended alongside representatives from government agencies, health organisations, and other stakeholders. The conference seeks to explore the integration of modern technology into healthcare delivery.
Discussions will focus on regulating health technology, linking national identification systems with healthcare services, and other key innovations. Panels will also deliberate on the future direction of digital health in Somalia. Organisers plan to make this an annual event, highlighting its significance as a milestone in modernising Somalia’s healthcare system.
