Somalia has received crucial military vehicles, military supplies, and medical supplies from the European Union. The handover ceremony at the General Dhegobadan Military Training School was attended by Somalia’s State Minister of Defense, Omar Ali Abdi, EU officials, and UNOPS representatives.
State Minister Abdi emphasised the importance of EU support, detailing the delivered vehicles and medical supplies intended to enhance the capacity of Somali forces. Speaking at a joint press briefing, Mathieu Briens, Deputy Director of the EU for Africa, expressed his pleasure in handing over the equipment to bolster Somalia’s security and medical infrastructure.
Minister Abdi thanked the EU for its continued backing and described it as a key international partner. The event concluded with a tour of training facilities where Somali National Army officers are being prepared for service.
