(20 Nov 2024) HARGEISA (Halqabsi News) — Somaliland’s newly elected President, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro held his first meeting with senior military officials on Wednesday following his election victory. The meeting included the Chief of Somaliland’s Armed Forces and other top military officers.
Celebrations welcoming President-elect Irro were held in cities such as Burao and Hargeisa, with videos circulating on social media showing widespread jubilation. However, Irro urged citizens to end the celebrations out of respect for the passing of former President Ahmed Silanyo, a gesture he emphasised in his victory speech.
