(03 Nov 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – In the early hours of Sunday, multiple mortar rounds struck near Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, targeting the heavily fortified Halane compound. Eyewitnesses report that three foreign workers within the compound sustained injuries, though no fatalities have been confirmed.
Al-Shabaab, an Islamist militant group, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The severity of the injuries remains undisclosed.
The Somali government and international organisations housed in Halane have not yet commented. The compound, home to diplomats and various international bodies, remains a frequent target of Al-Shabaab mortar attacks.
