(30 Dec 2024) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has presided over a leadership handover at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and emphasised his administration’s commitment to bolstering institutional capacity and driving economic reform. The ceremony marked the official transition from outgoing Minister Abdirisak Omar Mohamed to incoming Minister Dahir Shire Mohamed.
Prime Minister Hamza highlighted the Ministry’s key role in advancing the government’s agenda, particularly in oil production and economic revitalisation. After decades of instability and infrastructural collapse, he underlined the importance of establishing a sustainable economic framework for the country.
“This Ministry must lay the groundwork for a fair and robust economic direction for the Somali people,” the Prime Minister asserted, pointing to the untapped potential of the nation’s resources as a cornerstone for recovery.
He commended the outgoing Minister for his service and dedication, wishing him well in future endeavours. He extended his best wishes to the new Minister, urging him to rise to the challenge of delivering results in this critical sector.
