The Director of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbalolshe, accompanied by Member of Parliament Mohamed Abdullahi Burale, has brokered a resolution to a political standoff between the Federal Government of Somalia and politician Abdullahi Abdirahman Adan, popularly known as Abdullahi Ganey.
The dispute originated from Ganey’s previous claims as the self-declared president of an entity named Hiiraan State, going against the HirShabelle administration.
Speaking to the press, Sanbalolshe confirmed that the mediation had brought the tensions to an end, enabling Ganey and his team to return to their region. He noted that the agreement, endorsed by Somalia’s top leadership, also includes addressing outstanding legal warrants against Ganey and his associates upon their return to Mogadishu.
MP Mohamed Abdullahi Burale expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that the absence of Ganey and his team from their communities had been a significant concern. He welcomed their return as a positive step toward restoring unity and stability.
In his remarks, Abdullahi Ganey acknowledged his past errors and pledged unwavering support for the Federal Government. “I am delighted that NISA Director Sanbalolshe and MP Burale have resolved the long-standing issues between us and the Federal Government. I extend my heartfelt thanks to them and affirm my full commitment to working with the government moving forward,” he said.
