Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has ramped up efforts to capture one of the country’s most wanted terror suspects, Yusuf Mohamed Hussein, also known as Jeeri-Arab. Jeeri-Arab is accused of masterminding a string of deadly attacks across Mogadishu, including high-profile bombings targeting Villa Rosa, the Presidential Palace, Pearl Beach, SYL Hotel, and several popular restaurants. Authorities say he played a key role in identifying targets and coordinating suicide bombings carried out by the Al-Shabaab militant group.
Despite recent successes, with many of Jeeri-Arab’s associates now in custody and vehicles linked to the attacks seized, the man himself remains at large. Intelligence suggests he has been lying low in the Mubarak area of Lower Shabelle in the recent past.
NISA has now issued an urgent call to the public, offering a reward of $30,000 for any information that leads to his capture. “We urge citizens to come forward with any credible tips,” read part of a NISA statement.
This latest move comes as part of Somalia’s broader crackdown on extremist groups threatening peace and security. Authorities have provided dedicated hotlines for tips: 199, +252770747474, and +252620545454.
The announcement underscores NISA’s determination to leave no stone unturned in the hunt for Jeeri-Arab, who has been described as a “key cog in the wheel” of the Al-Shabaab terror network.
