(04 Jan 2025) GAROWE (Halqabsi News)— On Saturday, a high-level security conference on eradicating terrorism in Puntland was held in Garowe, the regional capital. Chaired by Vice President Ilyas Osman Lugator, the meeting brought together key stakeholders to discuss enhancing cooperation among security agencies and bolstering efforts to strengthen overall safety across Puntland.
The discussions centred on providing unwavering support for Puntland’s anti-terror operations, particularly against ISIS-linked groups. The conference also emphasised the need for a unified approach to counter threats and maintain regional stability, which has faced increased insecurity in recent months.
The meeting follows the recent IS-claimed terrorist attack on a military base in Dharjale. Puntland’s government reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out the Islamic State threats and called for international support in the fight against the group.
