The Somali Police Command has addressed Monday night’s incident in Mogadishu’s Daru Salam district, involving fake IEDs and gunfire, reassuring the public that there is no security threat in the capital.
In a statement, the police revealed that the devices, planted at a business centre and attributed to the militant Al-Shabaab, were meant to sow fear among the population. However, the explosives were confirmed to be fake, causing no casualties or property damage.
Officers swiftly responded to the scene, restoring calm and reinforcing security measures in the area.
The police urged residents to collaborate with security forces to maintain peace and remain wary of false reports designed to create fear.
