(29 Mar 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – Security forces have killed 21 Al-Shabaab fighters, including senior commanders, in an overnight airstrike in the Geelgub area of Middle Shabelle. The joint operation was carried out by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and the Somali National Army (SNA).
According to NISA, the strike destroyed militant hideouts, vehicles, and weapons. “The operation was successful, and all targeted militants were eliminated at once,” the agency said, adding that the area was under close surveillance.
Authorities urged civilians to avoid areas used by Al-Shabaab as hideouts, warning of continued strikes. The Somali government has recently stepped up air operations after Al-Shabaab launched a wave of attacks and regained territory in parts of the region.
