(29 Mar 2025) GAROWE (Halqabsi News) – Heavy airstrikes rocked the area between the valleys of Miraale and Baalade Sare on Saturday, targeting remnants of ISIS militants who had fled earlier operations in the Cal-Miskaad mountain range.
Defence officials stationed near Miraale confirmed to Halqabsi News that loud explosions were heard in the region, believed to be focused on forested hideouts used by fleeing militants.
While Puntland authorities have yet to issue an official statement, military sources suggest the strikes are being carried out by the United States in coordination with the Somali National Army -similar to recent operations in Miraale earlier this week.
The strikes come as part of a broader campaign to eliminate the last pockets of ISIS fighters in northern Somalia, following major territorial losses inflicted by Puntland’s elite counter-terrorism forces.
