(21 Apr 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – At least two people have been killed and three others injured in a landmine explosion in the Dayniile district of Mogadishu on Tuesday, local sources confirmed.
The blast occurred near Mumino Eelbuur mosque, close to a small roadside tea café often frequented by civilians. The improvised explosive device (IED) had reportedly been buried near the pavement and detonated as people gathered in the area.
Witnesses said the explosion happened during a busy period, striking unsuspecting civilians and causing panic. “The explosion was loud and could be heard across Dayniile,” one resident said.
Preliminary reports indicate the device may have been planted to target nearby security patrols, as Somali security forces had been conducting checks in the area at the time.
No group has claimed responsibility, and government authorities have yet to release an official statement. Investigations are underway.
