(23 Apr 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has held talks with the European Union (EU) delegation to Somalia in Mogadishu, focusing on strengthening political, economic, and security cooperation.
During the meeting, the president praised the EU’s support for Somalia’s state-building efforts, federal governance, and resilience. He said EU backing had been pivotal in advancing peace and stability.
President Mohamud also discussed his administration’s national reconciliation and governance agenda, and the upcoming direct elections.
The talks also covered Somalia’s preparations for a national dialogue aimed at fostering a unified political framework.
The president urged the EU to increase its support, particularly in security, judicial reform, and economic development.
The EU delegation reaffirmed its commitment to Somalia’s progress, praising recent reforms and pledging continued partnership.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation, saying an ongoing partnership was key to Somalia’s long-term success.
