The Commander of the Somali Police Force, Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi, has reactivated the Police Construction Command, responsible for government building projects and economic infrastructure development, after 34 years of dormancy. Although the unit existed in name, its operations had been largely inactive.
Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mohamed was appointed to lead the revived command and has begun drafting its operational plan with support from experts selected by the Police Commander.
The Governor of Banadir Region, Mohamed Ahmed Amir, officially licensed the Construction Command to operate in the region, allowing it to contribute to the rehabilitation and development of public service facilities.
The move restores a key government body in public construction and reinstates its role in delivering critical infrastructure services.
