The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) says its forces, in coordination with international partners, carried out an overnight operation that killed 13 Al-Shabaab fighters in Mabah area of Hiiraan region.
According to a statement issued Tuesday, the operation targeted militants regrouping at the Ga’yad area, a site previously hit in earlier operations. NISA said the raid was conducted in two phases and disrupted a planned attack against civilians.
Weapons and equipment of the targeted group were also destroyed.
NISA said it remains committed to targeting Al-Shabaab hideouts across the country to weaken its ability to carry out attacks.
