(10 June 2025) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) – Puntland security forces have arrested several suspected ISIS militants attempting to flee recent military operations in the Baallade valley.
Officials said the suspects were apprehended on Monday during a security sweep in Bosaso. They had allegedly posed as nomads to slip into the city, hoping to evade capture following the army’s advance.
The detainees are now being held at Bosaso Central Prison, where they are under interrogation by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Puntland Police. Authorities said charges will be brought forward pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
This follows a spike in security operations across Bosaso aimed at preventing fleeing militants from regrouping or launching attacks.
Puntland recently declared the completion of the third phase of Operation Lightning, driving ISIS fighters from strongholds in Baallade. However, security officials have cautioned that sleeper cells may remain embedded in urban areas.
