(14 June 2025) BOSASO (Halqabsi News) – Security forces in Puntland State have killed more than 15 suspected ISIS-affiliated militants in a major air and ground offensive, according to military sources.
The operation took place on Friday in the Baallade valley, a rugged, mountainous area in the Bari region. Military officials stated it was one of the highest number of militant casualties recorded in a single day since the current counter-terrorism campaign began.
The targeted fighters were reportedly remnants of a larger group that had been dislodged from other strongholds in recent weeks and had regrouped in a network of caves and trenches in the Cadayle area, southeast of the port city of Bosaso.
“We dismantled their defences and overran their positions,” Puntland Forces statement said.
The strike is part of a sustained effort by Puntland to eliminate ISIS sleeper cells from the region. The campaign has seen significant gains in recent weeks, disrupting the group’s logistics and capturing key territory.
