(12 June 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) – The Federal Government has announced that senior Al-Shabaab commanders were among 13 militants killed in targeted airstrikes on Wednesday in Middle Shabelle region.
According to an official government statement, the Somali National Army, with support from international partners, carried out the precision airstrikes in Buurta Cadayga, an area nearElbaraf, where the group was reportedly assembling its fighters.
“A total of 13 militants of Al-Shabaab, including key commanders and militants, were killed in this planned operation,” the statement read.
The government added that the strikes successfully disrupted a planned offensive and destroyed a cache of weapons stored by the group.
The statement reaffirmed the government’s commitment, in collaboration with citizens and international partners, to “eliminating Al-Shabaab and securing lasting peace.” The operation is part of a wider counter-terrorism campaign, with reports of other ongoing air operations in the Sabiib and Caanoole areas.
