Somalia and China reaffirmed their longstanding partnership through separate engagements held in Mogadishu and Beijing. Somalia’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, received Ambassador Wang Yu of the People’s Republic of China for a courtesy call at the Ministry. They discussed Somali National Armed Forces’ counter-terrorism efforts, the ongoing AUSSOM transition, and avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile in Beijing, Somalia’s Ambassador to China, Ambassador Hodan Osman, delivered a keynote lecture titled “Somalia & China at 65: Strategic Partnership in a New Era” at the China-Africa Institute. The event formed part of the celebrations marking 65 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, highlighting shared history and prospects for improved collaboration.
