(11 June 2025) CHANGSHA (Halqabsi News) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdisalam Ali, participated in the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held in Changsha, Hunan Province. Representing Somalia at this high-level platform, the Minister reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to a principled partnership with China—one rooted in mutual respect, shared development goals, and tangible outcomes. He warmly welcomed the new initiatives announced by President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, praising them as aligned with the real needs of Africa and reflective of China’s consistent support to the continent.
“In the 25 years since FOCAC was launched, Africa has undergone meaningful transformation—from modern roads and ports to digital innovation and human development. This is a partnership that speaks through results, not rhetoric,” the Minister said in his address.
The Minister outlined Somalia’s development priorities, including investment in human capital, digital governance systems, infrastructure, and value-added trade. He called for stronger cooperation in these areas to support Somalia’s recovery and reform agenda.
“Somalia seeks a future where partnership translates into real opportunities for our people—where we build, produce, educate, and connect. That is the kind of cooperation we stand for,” he noted. The Changsha meeting comes at a moment when Somalia is asserting its place in international diplomacy and development dialogue. The Minister made clear that Somalia is ready to contribute meaningfully to FOCAC’s next chapter, with a focus on delivery, inclusion, and long-term impact.
