South West State’s Minister of Constitutional Affairs, Mohamed Ibrahim Barre, arrived in Barawe on Monday, leading a delegation that included the ministry’s Director General, Abshir Abdinuur Deero. The delegation was warmly received at the airport by local officials, regional administrators, and community representatives.
The visit is part of an outreach campaign aimed at raising awareness on the ongoing constitutional review process. The delegation is meeting with civil society groups, women, youth, elders, religious leaders, persons with disabilities, and marginalised communities to gather input and foster public engagement.
Minister Barre reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to delivering a comprehensive, inclusive constitution rooted in public consensus and designed to reinforce Somalia’s federal governance.
Similar consultations have been held across South West State, as the ministry works toward a unified regional stance on the country’s constitutional future.
