(10 Feb 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has visited wounded national army soldiers and Macawiisley fighters receiving treatment in Mogadishu hospitals.
During his visit to Xoogga and Kalkaal hospitals, the president personally checked on the injured fighters, many of whom were wounded in battles against Al-Shabaab during the recent offensive in Hiiraan. He reassured them of the government’s full commitment to their medical care.
“We cannot change fate, but your government will ensure you receive the best medical care. You are heroes, sacrificing for your country and people, standing on the path of justice,” President Hassan Sheikh told the wounded soldiers and fighters.
The president also inspected the Somali National Army Hospital, reviewing its equipment, medical services, and operational capacity. He was briefed by the Chief of Defence Forces, General Odawaa Yusuf Raage, and military health officials, who outlined plans to improve medical care for injured personnel.
This visit comes as government forces, alongside local Macawiisley fighters, intensify military operations against Al-Shabaab, securing key areas in central and southern Somalia as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
