(05 Mar 2025) MOGADISHU (Halqabsi News) — Dr. Ahmed Oman Dhore has officially taken over as the Director of the Archives Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, following his appointment by Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi. He succeeds Ambassador Mohamed Ibrahim Awale (Charles) in the role.
In his remarks upon assuming office, Dr. Dhore reaffirmed his commitment to modernising and streamlining the ministry’s archival system. He outlined his priorities, which include enhancing document organisation, updating records, and implementing a systematic numbering process. His vision aligns with the Minister’s directives to ensure efficiency, professionalism, and transparency in the management of official records.
Emphasising the importance of archives as a valuable national heritage, Dr. Dhore stressed the need for preservation while upholding strict confidentiality standards. He also highlighted plans to introduce a modern digital storage and archiving system, aimed at protecting records from deterioration, facilitating efficient retrieval, and strengthening institutional knowledge.
Additionally, Dr. Dhore expressed his commitment to improving the capacity of department staff to effectively manage the digital archives. His initiatives are expected to enhance the Ministry’s record-keeping processes, ensuring long-term accessibility and security of vital diplomatic documents.
