(06-Mar-23) Kismao, Somalia – Somali Police Chief General Sulub Ahmed Firin arrived in Kismayo today, marking his first trip out of Mogadishu since being appointed as the head of the Somali Police Force. The commander’s delegation was welcomed at the airport by officials from various councils of the Jubbaland administration, officers and units of the Jubbaland Police Force.
The purpose of General Sulub’s visit is to participate in a security conference in Kismayo, where he will hold meetings with military officials. This follows the recent visit of President Hassan Sheikh to Kismayo last Wednesday, where he met with Jubaland administration.
General Sulub has a wealth of experience in law enforcement, having served in various capacities in the Somali Police Force for many years. His appointment as the head of the force was seen as a positive step towards improving the country’s security and addressing the various challenges facing law enforcement in Somalia.
The security conference in Kismayo is expected to cover a range of issues related to security in the region, including counterterrorism efforts, border security, and efforts to combat transnational crime. The conference will also provide an opportunity for General Sulub and other officials to exchange ideas and best practices for improving law enforcement in Somalia.
The visit of General Sulub and his delegation to Kismayo is being closely watched by observers, who see it as a sign of the government’s commitment to improving security in the Lower Juba region. With the ongoing efforts of the Jubbaland administration and the support of the Somali Police Force, there is hope that peace and stability will finally be restored to this long-suffering region.
