(06-04-23) MOGADISHU – The Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia, led by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, has approved the appointment of Gen. Mahad Abdirahman Aden as the new Commander of the Correctional Force. The decision was made during the weekly ministerial meeting on Thursday, which also saw the approval of key national policies and agreements.
Gen. Abdirahman Aden, who has extensive knowledge and experience in matters related to correctional services, was proposed for the role by the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. A member of the current Federal Parliament of Somalia served as Commander of the Correctional Force, Commander of the Labataan-Jirow School, and Commander of the Police Force in the Bay Region.
The Cabinet passed the Capital City Arms Control Act, the Policy on the Procedure for the Preparation of Legislative Proposals and the Entering of Agreements, and the National Policy for the Somali Diaspora. Additionally, it approved two agreements focusing on investment and youth development with Sudan and Qatar, highlighting the government’s commitment to international cooperation and youth opportunities.
