(07-04-23) MOGADISHU – On Friday, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of the Federal Republic of Somalia visited the Hiil-Weyne camp, situated between Mogadishu and Balcad. The camp is home to soldiers from the National Army who have recently undergone training in Uganda. These military-police-trained forces are set to play a significant role in maintaining security in Mogadishu and curbing the violent activities of the Khawarij, who have been terrorizing the Somali people.
During his visit, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud instructed the military to remain vigilant, take control, and ensure the safety and peace of mind of Somali citizens. He emphasized the need for the military to serve as a model for other forces in the country in maintaining peace and stability.
The President also urged the army to adhere to military discipline and regulations, making it their primary responsibility to protect the safety, dignity, and lives of Somali citizens who have been victimized by the Khawarij groups’ conspiracies.
Accompanying President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during the inspection were the Minister of Defence, the Governor of the Benadir region, and the Commander of the Somali Police Force. The visit highlights the Somali government’s commitment to strengthening security in the country and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens from extremist threats.
