(09-04-23) MOGADISHU – On Saturday evening a medical team member named Shukri Ali Mahad Alle was fatally shot while sitting outside her home in the Isa Abdi neighborhood of the Deyniile district. Armed assailants targeted Shukri, shooting her in the upper body and causing her immediate death.
Shukri was widely recognized in the Isa Abdi neighborhood for her work in administering polio vaccines to children in need. Her untimely death has left the residents of Issa Abdi and medical teams in Mogadishu in shock and mourning.
Despite conducting investigative operations in the Deniile district, security forces have yet to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime. Police officers from the Dayniile district also arrived at the scene to conduct a brief investigation but have not provided any updates on the incident or subsequent operations.
The motive behind the targeted killing of Shukri Ali Mahad Alle remains unclear, but her death is part of a larger pattern of growing insecurity in the capital. Mogadishu has recently experienced a surge in violence, including murders, explosions, and widespread robberies perpetrated by gangs.
