(14-04-23) ADDIS ABABA – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, arrived in Addis Ababa today with his delegation, to participate in a tripartite meeting between Somalia, Ethiopia, and Italy. The leaders of the three countries are coming together to discuss regional stability, economic cooperation, and ongoing efforts to combat terrorism.
In a preliminary meeting, President Mohamud met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Mrs. Giorgia Meloni, to discuss Somalia’s progress in combatting terrorism and fostering stability within the nation. Mohamud shared details about the first phase of the anti-terrorism operation, which he deemed successful, and announced plans for a joint operation involving frontline countries neighboring Somalia.
The President emphasized the importance of these efforts for the region and the world, noting the threat terrorism poses to civilians and the development of the Horn of Africa. Prime Minister Meloni commended the Somali government’s progress in stabilization and nation-building, pledging her government’s support for the aspirations of the Somali people, particularly in achieving peace and harmony.
The tripartite meeting, which includes the participation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, will focus on strengthening regional ties and facilitating cooperation in security, economic development, and infrastructure projects. The collaboration between Somalia, Ethiopia, and Italy is expected to bolster stability in the Horn of Africa and contribute to global efforts against terrorism.
