(26-04-23) MOGADISHU – In recent weeks, residents and visitors of Mogadishu have witnessed significant improvements in security measures, particularly at checkpoints throughout the city. Analysts attribute the positive changes to diligent efforts by local chiefs, officers, and security forces.
Not only have security measures become more efficient, but there has also been a noticeable change in the demeanour of security personnel. Locals report that officers now approach their duties with a friendly smile, making the process of entering and leaving the city more pleasant.
This change has greatly impacted the lives of Mogadishu residents, as many used to be separated from their relatives or parents during holidays or Fridays due to cumbersome security procedures. Businesspeople, who were previously inconvenienced by these measures, have also benefited from the streamlined process.
The improvement in security has been particularly evident during the recent Eid celebration, when residents travelled to the Darussalam area, passing through the districts of Yaqshid, Huriwa, and Wardigle before entering the Hodon district. The smooth passage through these checkpoints allowed for a more joyous and hassle-free celebration for all.
Analysts have praised the efforts of those in charge of the process, noting that their hard work and effective communication have helped alleviate the concerns of Mogadishu’s residents. They believe that the security improvements not only reflect the commitment of the authorities to public safety but also contribute to the overall positive atmosphere in the city.
The Somali government and local officials hope that these security improvements will contribute to the continued growth and development of Mogadishu, as well as foster a safer and more prosperous environment for its residents. While challenges remain, the progress made thus far serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Somali people.
