(25-04-23) MOGADISHU –The Somali national army, in collaboration with local liberation forces, successfully carried out a strategic operation to free the residents of Jame’o village in the Hiran region from Al-Shabaab insurgents. The operation resulted in the terrorists fleeing the area, as reported by national media, after being overwhelmed by the joint forces.
The planned attack on the insurgents’ stronghold saw the combined forces engage the terrorists, seizing their weapons and forcing them to retreat. The operation’s success marks a significant victory for Somali National Army’s second phase fight against Alshabaab, as it continues to combat the presence of Al-Shabaab within its borders.
Following the liberation, the officers leading the operation confirmed that the joint forces are now conducting a thorough search of the area, looking for any remaining insurgents who may be hiding. The operation also aims to recover additional weapons and materials left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
The Hiran region has been a long-standing target for Al-Shabaab, as they have carried out multiple attacks and kidnappings in the area. The village of Jame’o is of particular importance, as it lies near major transportation routes and resources, making it a strategic location for the terrorist group.
As the armed forces and local liberation groups continue their efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab, the residents of Jame’o village and the Hiran region can begin to rebuild and regain a sense of normalcy. The government has assured its full support in the rehabilitation process, promising to provide the necessary resources to help the affected communities recover from the long-standing conflict.
