(01-05-23) GAROWE –The Puntland government has officially declared its position on the establishment of the SSC-Khatumo administration this week, following a speech by Minister of Planning Mohamed Said Faroole on Sunday. The move aims to resolve territorial disputes and ongoing conflicts in the region.
Minister Faroole stated that the government, led by President Deni, fully supports the decisions made by the SSC traditional leaders and will back the implementation of SSC-Khatumo. The minister emphasized Puntland’s commitment to the cause, saying, “We recognize every decision made by the SSC traditional leaders and support it.”
The Puntland government has also communicated its position to the international community, receiving agreement from international representatives. “We have informed the representatives of the international community about this position, and they have agreed with Puntland,” Minister Faroole confirmed.
The establishment of the SSC-Khatumo administration is seen as a crucial step towards resolving the long-standing territorial dispute with Somaliland over SSC lands. The conflict has escalated over the past three months, with both sides claiming ownership of the territory.
The Puntland government’s support for the SSC-Khatumo administration represents a significant development in the ongoing negotiations and has the potential to bring about lasting peace and stability to the region. The commitment from the international community further solidifies Puntland’s stance and demonstrates global support for the establishment of the new administration.
With the Puntland government’s official backing, the SSC-Khatumo administration can now move forward with the construction process, bringing hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in LasAnod.
